Mountain Peaks in Ladakh

India has opened more than 100 high-altitude peaks in Kashmir for  foreign trekkers and climbers.

Most of these peaks are in the Eastern Karakoram mountain range of predominantly Buddhist Ladakh region. Their altitude ranges from 9,842 feet to 25,590 feet.

Jammu and Kashmir’s Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora said the defence ministry has given its nod with a view to give a boost to the tourism industry.  He said the situation in the militancy infested state is fast improving and tourism is picking up. “We hope a very good (tourist) season this summer”.
